About

The Honors Treble Choir, conducted by Stephanie Schumacher, is a 60+ member ensemble of singers in grades 5-6, selected by audition. Treble Choir rehearses weekly, and performs in several season concerts and on tour to area schools. The choir takes a post-season tour every other year with the most recent tour to Chicago in 2018.

The choir is accompanied by Jan Kvam, and one of five ensembles of Honors Choirs of Southeast Minnesota (Rochester, MN).

Details

Membership: By audition, singers in grades 5-6 residing in Southeast Minnesota
Tuition: $396 annually; scholarships available
Rehearsals:  3:00-4:45pm on most Sunday afternoons during the school year
Performances: Concert performances in October, December, February, and April plus a one-day local school tour in the spring
Tours:  Regional tour every other year (upcoming May 2023)

Achievements

  • In May 2003, the choir participated in the Heritage Children's Choir Festival in Chicago.

  • In 2007, the choir was one of the featured ensembles at the Midwest Children's Choir Festival in Ames, Iowa.

  • In May 2014, 2016 and 2018 the choir competed in the "Music in the Parks" festival in Chicago and earned a superior rating, as well as the highest cumulative marks of all ensembles at the festivals.
